Receiving purchase orders


Deleted or missing product variants

When receiving a purchase order, you may see a warning banner:

Some variants no longer exist. The following product variants have been deleted from Shopify and cannot be received.

This means one or more product variants that were originally added to the purchase order have since been deleted from your Shopify store.

Why does this happen?

  • A product or variant was removed from Shopify after the purchase order was created
  • A product was merged or recreated with new variant IDs
  • A variant was deleted and re-added during inventory restructuring

Deleted variants cannot be received. The received quantity for these line items will remain unchanged.

Solution

Review the listed products — the warning banner lists exactly which variants no longer exist in Shopify.

  1. If the product was recreated — edit the purchase order and add the new variant, then transfer the expected quantity to the new line item
  2. If the product is no longer needed — no action is required, the remaining line items can still be received normally
