Product import: existing products setting

When you create a new product import, there may be cases where the supplier has products that the Shopify import does not include.

For example, suppose we import products from Shopify using the vendor tag “Burberry”. On July 1, we imported 100 products from Shopify. Over time, you deleted 5 products with the vendor tag “Burberry” from Shopify, but the supplier still has 100 products. This creates a situation where the vendor tag in Shopify has 95 products, while the supplier has 100. The reason for the discrepancy in these 5 products (e.g., archived, changed vendor tag, deleted) is irrelevant. This setting determines what happens to those 5 products:

  • Keep products: The app retains these 5 products assigned to the supplier. This may be suitable, but if these 5 products now have a different vendor tag, such as “YSL”, and you create a new import for another supplier, “YSL”, you may encounter duplications in the app. These 5 products will be assigned to both suppliers in the app — “Burberry” and “YSL”.
  • Delete products: The app removes these 5 products from the supplier, ensuring the supplier’s product list matches the “Burberry” vendor tag in Shopify. This is the recommended option, as it prevents duplications in the app.
